well, the shine project started as a simple idea in the fall of 2007 in a classroom at a junior college.
shineyournamehere, or the shine project as we call it, is a simple idea. the idea is so simple, you might even miss it. here's the idea: we all have the same potential and calling. we are all called to shine. what does it even mean to shine? well, that is simple too. everyone knows what darkness looks like (you know, the things that people go to jail for, and some make tons of money off of?), so all that it means to shine is to stand up for what is right and work hard at it. not everyone is meant to go to a foreign country and fix world hunger. you might just need to shine in your classroom or workplace, right where you already are. see, it really is simple. you can stand up to help the kid who doesn't understand algebra, you can rise up to listen to the coworker whose marriage is crumbling away, and you can help raise money to feed your local homeless in your community. genius you say? well, the it is. the idea has been around for almost 2,000 years, and in the rare instances where it has been lived out it has never been forgotten. for more information, check out the about section.
you see, we capitalize the first words of our sentences in America to conform to a standard. it helps us to recognize when a sentence begins. however, there is a period to indicate where the last sentence ended, so that should tell us where the next one starts. I think that we have become lazy as a people, and rely on customs to fix our problems. for you see, a period determines where one sentence ends, and where another can begin. a capital letter does not determine where a sentence begins, its just an indicator. so, we dont capitalize the first letter of our sentences because we want to send a message.
each month we will highlight a particular organization or effort to raise money for, and all of the proceeds that we raise via donations will go toward that fund. the shirts that we sell go directly to those organizations and we keep a small portion to help continue our efforts in spreading awareness.
keep in mind that our job is to teach people how to shine. the greatest thing that we could ever hope for is that you would go into the world and shine after we showed you that you too can make a difference. so, if you want to help, then please go into the dark world around us and shine for Jesus Christ and make a difference. if you are doing that, and the people around you will confirm it then we can definately use your help to spread the word and volunteer at events.
