shine: A word that is not often heard in a generation that revolves around myspace, ipods, fashion, and tv. Here is what it means according to the lovely google:

• reflect: be bright by reflecting or casting light; "Drive carefully--the wet road reflects"
• emit light; be bright, as of the sun or a light; "The sun shone bright that day"; "The fire beamed on their faces"

apathy is deadly. as people, we have seen the affects of apathy on this world: world hunger, war, depression, suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, pornography (the multi-billion-dollar industry), and rebellion. today’s generation is known for its lack of respect for elders, obsession with all things technological, and love for music. however, deep within all of what we see and know to be true, there is a small glint of something else, something different. so many people describe this “something” as standing on the edge of a cliff: to one side, there is a sheer drop off into the unknown, and to the other side there is the comforting ground that so many people have grown accustomed to. It is the apathy in this world that causes the majority to choose the ground. Yet, in the midst of all that, there are a small few who have taken the leap. if your anything like me, you may be wondering what it’s like to take that leap. it is our privilege to tell their stories to all of you with the hope that maybe you will take that leap too. so if you want to read the most amazing stories you have ever read about real people right by where you live (maybe), then check out the stories section.
